HBBC offers scholarships to seniors at Hamilton High School who have been involved in the music program, either through band, choir, or color guard, during their high school years. Students who are interested in receiving the scholarship must complete the scholarship application no later than the last day of the first semester of their senior year (before winter break). Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the HBBC Scholarship Committee, which will then determine the students who will receive scholarships and the amount of each scholarship given. No person in the HBBC Scholarship Committee may have any relation to a scholarship applicant. Scholarships will be awarded by HBBC during the Senior Awards Night. Students awarded the scholarships must enroll at an accredited college or university by the fall after graduation, or the scholarship funds will be returned to the HBBC Scholarship Account, which is managed by Hamilton High School ASB.
HBBC will plan to set aside at least $1000 towards scholarships every year, but it is not guaranteed that $1000 will be awarded every year. Award amounts depend on multiple factors (including, but not limited to, the amount of time in the music program, leadership qualities, music talent, essay response, and number of applicants) and will be determined by the HBBC Scholarship Committee. If additional funds are in the HBBC Scholarship Account (due to recipients forfeiting the scholarship or limited to no applicants in a previous year), the HBBC Scholarship Committee may decide to award more than $1000 in scholarships in an academic year. Additionally, if the quality/quantity of applicants does not warrant awarding the full amount, the scholarship funds may be reserved to be used in future years.
